Liverpool manager Arne Slot has given an update on the fitness of Alisson Becker, Conor Bradley, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa ahead of the match against Arsenal. He is optimistic about Chiesa and Bradley returning to training by Saturday, October 26, but has confirmed that Alisson and Jota will not be available.
Slot suggested that these players might miss the crucial match against Arsenal on Sunday, stating, “They feel good but won’t be ready to play this weekend. Federico might train with us soon, but Diogo definitely won’t. We’ll see about Conor Bradley tomorrow.”
Regarding Alisson, he mentioned, “He’s making good progress, but it’s not a quick recovery. It’s tough to assess his timeline, and I can’t predict how long he’ll be out. Don’t expect him back for the Brighton cup match or next week.”
Diogo Jota suffered a rib injury in Liverpool’s recent 2-1 victory over Chelsea and missed their Champions League match against RB Leipzig. Alisson has been sidelined for the last two games due to a hamstring issue and is expected to be out past the November international break, although Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped up, keeping a clean sheet against Leipzig.
Conor Bradley sustained an injury while playing for Northern Ireland during the international break, and Federico Chiesa has missed the last four matches due to an unspecified injury.
Looking ahead to the match against Arsenal, Slot expects them to be a tougher opponent than Chelsea, whom Liverpool recently defeated. He noted Arsenal’s strong performance over the past two seasons, stating, “Arsenal were far ahead of us and Chelsea. This away game will likely be even tougher than facing Chelsea at home.”
Liverpool currently leads the league with 21 points from eight matches, while Arsenal sits third with 17 points, hoping to rebound from their recent 2-0 loss to Bournemouth.
